On Pins and Needles

Fellow Quilters,

Are we not the luckiest quilt guild in the world with many talented quilters and a nationally known quilt teacher and speaker, Donna Thomas, as members?  Donna’s program in July, “Overcoming Fabric Paralysis, How to Color Your Quilts”, was informative and inspiring.  Her beautiful quilts really brought home her points about color.  I know I will use the idea of the color palette  and making two squares at a time.  Being a librarian, I am also thrilled to have a book autographed by the author.

At the board meeting Monday, August 3, we discussed our need to replace Ruth Roesler as our webmaster.  Ruth has been a very involved guild member helping in many areas and most recently working with the website.  Regrettably for us, she will be moving because of a job change for her husband.  The board thanks Ruth very much for all of her efforts on behalf of the guild.  After much discussion we have decided to try a web blog for the guild.  Sheila Bayles demonstrated how easy a blog is to use and share information with guild members.  Look in the newsletter for the blog address of the guild.

I am still looking for a guild member who is willing to coordinate the “Super Saturday Sew In”.  The job involves asking a member to share a quilting skill in a workshop for members, locating a place to have the workshop and scheduling a date.  “Super Saturday” happens 3 or 4 times a year.  For a new guild member willing to take on this task the board would provide a list of guild members who would be great teachers.   Please give me a call or email if you are willing to take on this guild activity.

Pam Adamson and Adele Atha both have fathers who are having health issues at this time.  Debbi Allen has recently been diagnosed with cancer so please keep these members and their families in your thought and prayers.

We are proud to let you know that Lennis Ledbetter of Fayetteville has donated $5,000 to the Jones Center to buy sewing machines and supplies for the Sew Right class.  An article about the donation was in the Arkansas Democrat Gazette recently.  Thanks for being such a caring person, Lennis!

Hope to see everyone at Lola Jenkins’ program, “Portrait Quilts”, on August 27th.

Keep quilting,

Audrey
