Details about Raija Salomaa classes:
Intro to EQ7. Whether you already own an EQ7 and have been shy about using it, or maybe you have been wanting to buy an EQ7 but didn’t know if it was right software for you, this class will be a perfect stepping stone in helping you get started on using EQ7. This designing software is widely used for hobbyist and professionals alike, helping them in fabric selection and quilt design process. A notepad, a pen, and a laptop with EQ7 installed and running is recommended for the class. However, those without the software are welcome to sign up for this class as well – most things will be shown over the projector. No previous experience required.
Corner Beam Magic – A great tool from Studio 180 Design, the Corner Beam tool allows you to get the accuracy that you never had before when making this unit! The tool allows you to make corner beam units in 11 different sizes, ranging from 1” to 6” in half an inch increments. Students will leave the class feeling confident using the tool, and will have many of the blocks made that are needed to make this beautiful quilt – Whispers of Lapland! The finished quilt measures 36” x 36”. Supplies: Basic sewing supplies including a sewing machine. Students will also need to bring their own material to make the quilt top. A materials list will be available at a later date. Kit fee: $25 kit fee will include a Corner Beam tool by Studio 180 Design and instructions to make the quilt top – payable to the instructor in the beginning of the class. (See linked photo.)
Raija was born and raised in Eno, a quaint little town in Eastern Finland. Raija met her soul mate and the love of her life while studying in the US.
Though avidly sewing since elementary school, quilting was something Raija didn’t know anything about prior to moving to the States. The moment she saw her first quilt it was love at first sight. Raija’s desire to become a quilt pattern designer started almost immediately, and her pattern company – Quilters’ Treasure Chest was born in 2004 Her designs have been featured in multiple national publications. Raija loves tools that make accuracy easier, so it’s no surprise she is a certified Studio 180 Design instructor. She enjoys lecturing at guilds and teaching workshops and currently resides in Arkansas.
