Pat Anglin Baby Quilt Project & Workshops

Baby, oh Baby – A couple of times a year we have our Pat Anglin Baby Quilt Workshop. Members gather for the Guild’s big community project workshop. We spend the day making baby or youth quilts to give to children in crisis. Pat Anglin, in the mid 90s, saw the need to supply charitable organizations with baby quilts. The members of QUILT voted to sponsor the project and committed to devote time each year to making baby quilts. Several years later, after Pat’s death, the project was given her name to honor her commitment.

This year’s workshop was a great success.  The following members participated some or all of the day:  Sandy Vetter, Ann Roberts, Jeanie Schneider, Kathy Garringer, Lisa Lipko, Stella Day, Janice Berry, Carolyn Gaskill, Adele Atha, Sheila Bayles, Charlotte Ralston, Anna Claire Zawislak, Paula Mariedaughter, Lila Rostenberg, Sandy Johnson, Joe Ann Reaves, Grace Grame, Valerie Doiel, Peggy Weidler, LoVina Payton, Lou McClellan, Sheri Shaw, Natalie McCrory, Lucinda Files, Mattie Sweat, Shirley Herbaugh, Barbara Hamernik and 2 husbands and 2 sons!!!

10 completed quilts were turned in:

Lou McClellan–3, Ann Roberts–1, Lila Rostenberg–2, Peggy Weidler–1, Sheri Shaw–1, Valerie Doiel–1, unknown maker of the Clifford Quilt–1

Over 50 quilt kits with top, backing and, in most cases, batting (we used a whole entire roll) were put together!!!

Lost & Found:  Someone left a dark gray power strip on the east side of the room.

Quilts of Valor

“The mission of the QOV Foundation is to cover ALL war wounded and injured servicemembers and veterans from the War on Terror whether physical or psychological wounds with Wartime quilts called Quilts of Valor (QOVS).  Or as a six year old put it, “When the ‘sholders’ are ‘warring’ and they come home and are hurt, the quilt makes them feel all comfy.”  This foundation is not about politics. It’s about people.”  www.qovf.org
