Registration Information  

Entry Rules — Please read ALL rules carefully before entering your quilts (online registration link below)

  • All entries must have been completed between March, 2017 and February, 2019
  • Quilts must be pre-registered for entry NO LATER THAN Friday, March 1st, 2019. This includes completing the online registration form and having the photos and fees postmarked by that date.
  • Quilt must be delivered to a designated drop-off location NO LATER THAN 5:00 pm, Friday, March 15, 2019.

  • An entrant may enter NO MORE THAN two (2) quilts per category.
    • Exception: The Guild Challenge allows only ONE (1) entry per member
  • A 4-inch sleeve must be securely attached to the top of each quilt
    • Exception: Entries in the miniature category require only a 2 inch sleeve
  • The registration form must be filled out online for each entry. A COLOR photo -3×5 or 4×6 – printed on Photo Paper- must be mailed along with the entry fee(s) before registration will be complete.
    • The entrant’s name, the name of the quilt, the width and length of the quilt must be written (print) on the back of each photo
    • Multiple fees and photos may be mailed together
    • DO NOT SEND photos by e-mail or printed on plain paper
    • Photos will become the property of QUILT of NW Arkansas
    • Fees should be paid by check, made payable to: Q.U.I.L.T.
      • Members: First entry-$7; additional entries-$3 each
      • Non-members: First entry-$10; additional entries-$8 each
      • Children’s entry: No fees
    • Mail photos and fees to: QUILT Show 2019 Registration, c/o Sheila Bayles, 6200 W. Buckeye Dr., Rogers, AR 72758
  • Quilts made from convenience fabric or “cheater cloth” WILL NOT be accepted.
    • Exception: Entries in the Children’s category
  • All entries must be quilted by hand, machine, or a combination of the two.
    • Exception: Entries in the Other Techniques or Art categories.
  • Each quilt must be constructed and quilted by the person(s) named in the registration form. In the case of group quilts, please give a group name to be listed in the event directory.
    • Exception: Entries in the Time Span category if the name of the original quilter is unknown.
  • If the quilt top was constructed by one person and quilted by another person, both names will appear in the event directory.
  • The show organizers reserve the right to move a quilt to a different category than the one it was registered in, if it does not fit the requirements.
  • When a quilt is dropped off, a QUILT IDENTIFICATION TAG(print here)  must be attached, with at least 2 safety pins, to the right lower corner of the back of each entry. Quilt should be folded so that the Quilt Identification Tag is visible.
  • Every effort will be made to assure the safety of each quilt. Neither the QUILT Show chairperson, Q.U.I.L.T. Guild of NW Arkansas, nor the Encore Event Center of Springdale, may be held responsible for loss or damage to entry. INSURANCE COVERAGE IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ENTRY OWNER.
    • Special handling cannot be guaranteed unless the quilt is submitted in a labeled box with written instructions.
  • Quilt may be offered for sale. Please indicate price on registration form. Q.U.I.L.T. of NW Arkansas will charge a 10% fee for quilts sold during the show. Any quilt sold during the show must remain on display until the end of the show.
  • Entrants are responsible for citing quilt patterns or inspiration, and/or for obtaining display permission, if required.

2019 Quilt Show Categories

Please look at the category requirements carefully. Size restrictions by category are specified in the category description and are listed by Total Circumference.

The quilts will be judged primarily based on the name of the category. Other elements may be considered if the principal element of more than one quilt in the category is of equal quality. While a quilt may meet the requirements of more than one category, please make your decision based on the main element you want judged.

The show organizers reserve the right to move a quilt to a different category than the one it was registered in, if it does not fit the requirements.

  • Pieced: a quilt pieced using traditional, contemporary, modern or original design/ blocks
    • Bed (specifically designed to go on a bed); queen or king; 375″ or larger
    • Bed (specifically designed to go on a bed); twin or full; 275″-374″
    • Throw or lap; 200″-274″
    • Wall hanging, large (specifically designed to hang on a wall); 121″ or greater
    • Wall hanging, small (specifically designed to hang on a wall); up to 120″
  • Machine Applique: a quilt that showcases machine applique; piecing is acceptable for backgrounds, sashing, and/or borders; it may be traditional, contemporary, modern, or original design
    • Bed (specifically designed to go on a bed); 275″ or greater
    • Wall hanging, large (specifically designed to hang on a wall); 121″ or greater
    • Wall hanging, small (specifically designed to hang on a wall; up to 120″
  • Mixed Techniques: a quilt featuring a combination of 2 or more techniques, including but not limited to piecing, applique, fabric manipulation, or folding; it may be traditional, contemporary, modern, or original design
    • Bed (specifically designed to go on a bed); 275″ or greater
    • Wall hanging, large (specifically designed to hang on a wall); 121″ or greater
    • Wall hanging, small (specifically designed to hang on a wall); up to 120″
  • Machine Quilted: a quilt completely machine quilted by one quilter
    • Longarm; any size
    • Domestic machine; any size
  • Hand Applique: a quilt that showcases the art of hand applique, including wool; piecing is acceptable for backgrounds, sashing, and/or borders; it may be traditional, contemporary, modern, or original design
    • Bed; 275″ or greater
    • Small; up to 274″
  • Hand Quilted: a quilt completely hand quilted by one quilter (whole cloth may be entered in this category)
    • Bed; 275″ or greater
    • Small; up to 274″
  • Baby Quilt: a quilt made specifically for a baby, using any technique, but must consist of 3 layers; up to 200″
  • Miniature Quilt: a quilt that is the miniaturization, a reduced or scaled down version, of a full-sized bed quilt; (if viewed through a camera lens, you wouldn’t be able to tell if this were a bed quilt or a miniature quilt); up to 96″
  • Table Quilt: a quilt designed specifically to decorate a table (runner, topper, etc); any size/shape
  • Art Quilt: a quilt of any size, shape or technique that is the work of one quilt artist and consists of 3 layers; the piece must contain hand or machine quilting; originality, creativity, and innovation MUST be showcased; the artist may incorporate a traditional design used in a new/unusual manner, commercial or hand-dyed fabric, an original design, or an innovative technique using fabric, fiber, thread, or embellishments; any size
  • Children’s Quilts: a quilt made by a child or a group of children under the age of 18; a non- judged category; any size
  • Other Techniques: a quilt made with some optional technique, for example: yo-yo, cathedral windows, whole cloth, crazy quilt, tied quilt, hand or machine embroidery, etc.; any size
  • Pictorial Quilt: a quilt specifically showcasing landscaping, buildings, architectural designs, portraits, animals, or other subjects representing a drawing, painting, or photograph; any size
  • Time Span Quilt: a quilt completed by the entrant using an old quilt top or blocks made by ANOTHER quilter (known or unknown) from the past; any size
  • Guild Challenge:   open to Guild Members ONLY
    • ONLY one submission per member
    • Theme: Cuddle Up With A Good Book

    • Minimum size: 120″; each side must measure at least 30″
    • Maximum size: 160″; each side must measure no more than 40″
    • Entrants must agree to enter their quilt in the AQS Guild Challenge if their entry is selected by the judge as one of the top eight (8) quilts

Preparation, Delivery & Pick-up Information

  • Protect your quilt(s) with pillowcases, fabric bags, or plastic bags
  • Clearly label the bag with your name, phone number, and the title(s) of your quilt(s)
  • Quilt requiring special handling should be delivered in a clearly marked box containing type-written instructions for handling
  • Fabric bags or pillowcases will be returned with your quilt(s) during the designated pick up time at the close of the show
  • All quilts must be delivered by 5:00 pm, Friday, March 15, 2019, to one of the following locations; please call ahead of dropping off your quilt(s):

  • Quilt will ONLY be ready for pick up AFTER take down is complete on April 6, 2019 at the Encore Event Center of Springdale
  • Please present your QUILT PICK UP FORM(print here).  Only one form per person is required even if you have multiple entries.
  • If you will not be able to stay and help with take down and pick up your quilt(s) afterward, please designate someone to do so or provide us with shipping instructions, a container, a mailing label, and a check or money order to cover shipping costs along with your registration entry
  • PLEASE DO NOT show up early and ask that your quilt(s) be given to you. If you cannot wait until the designated time, please arrange for someone else to pick up your quilt(s).  The take-down and distribution crews must have time to get quilts ready for pick up in an orderly fashion.
