On Pins and Needles-August 24

Dear Fellow Quilters,

I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the August 27 guild meeting.  Lola Jenkins program “Portrait Quilts” promises to be very different way to look at the possibilities for quilting.

Keep Quilting,
Audrey

Below is information from Grand Lake O’Cherokees Quilt Guild about a trip to Des Moines for an AQS Quilt Show in late October.

We are in the planning stages and got a lot of interest from our guild members after our recent meeting, 8/7.  We have approximately 28 plus 4-5 more that might be interested from members and friends.

Our tentative plans are to have a (55pass) bus company from Joplin, MO, come to Grove and pick up travelers on 10/27 (Tues) at around 8 am, travel to Des Moines with stops along the way and arrive in Des Moines for supper and our motel.  We would have two nights at the Baymont’s Inn, 4685 NE 14th in Des Moines, and return to Grove on 10/29 (Thurs).  We would spend Wed. at the Quilt Show, etc.  The bus would be dedicated to us so we could use to see other sights, etc. there.

The motel has offered us the AQS or better rate of $89 (incl. taxes) per night.  We are asking travelers to indicate if they want to share a room, like 2 to 4 people per room.  Most have selected 2 to a room.

We believe the trip per traveler, with the bigger bus and two to a room would be around $200.

We plan to accommodate our members and in order to make the trip cost effective, invite others until we fill the bus or have enough to travel with.

The traveler would be responsible for their own meals and entrance to the show, etc.  We will be asking for a $50 deposit returnable if you need to cancel and you can find a suitable replacement.

We understand that you might know of others that would be interested and if so, could you have them contacte me (Connie Bohannan) or Cathy King and their preference for a motel room.

I can be reached via email or cell #918-791-8325.  Cathy’s email, fourkings2@sbcglobal.net

If you have more questions or have some ideas, please contact us.

This is the second year for the AQS show in Des Moines and we’re excited about going.  Many of us have traveled via car to Paducah, KY for the show there and hoping this will be just as great.

More information about the show is available at the AQS website:  www.americanquilter.com

Thank you and hope you and your friends can join us.
