Mastering Machine-­Pieced 8-­Pointed Intersections
3-hour technique workshop with Jan Krentz
Master the piecing techniques for beautiful, perfect 8-pointed intersections! Many quilt designs
feature 8-point intersections. This workshop explores two techniques to sew and press seams in
Kaleidoscope blocks, creating smooth accurate intersections. The techniques apply to
Kaleidoscope, Lone Star, LeMoyne Star, Pinwheel, Spider Web, Harbor Lights and related
patterns.
Supply list:
Sewing snips or thread cutter
1 spool of medium-value thread (grey or tan), bobbin wound with same or similar color
Sewing machine with standard foot (and ability to move the needle position right to
left) or quarter-inch foot
Wooden pressing stick or seam roller (if you have one)
Optional 􀂱 for use at home (not needed in class):
Iron 􀂱 for final block pressing
